About IPFO

Founded by Jeffrey Greger (US) in 2018 and now organised by an international committee that includes Clint Lee (CA), Mark Teng (SG) and Jose Trigueros (MX), the IP Firm Open (“IPFO”) seeks to foster collaboration and networking amongst IP professionals who regularly attend the International Trademark Association Annual Meeting (“INTA”).

Our non-profit golf scramble event occurs a day (and nowadays two) before INTA and is played in a 4-ball scramble format where teams of 4 get to pick their best ball of every shot (yes, including the putts!) in a friendly competition between flights at golf courses near the conference location.

San Diego 2025

As the INTA Annual Meeting heads to San Diego from 17 to 21 May 2025, we too have been making our preparations.

Our traditionally inclusive IPFO Scramble Event will take place a day ahead of INTA on Friday, 16 May 2025 at The Crossings at Carlsbad which is nestled among the natural habitat and wildlife on more than 400 acres of Carlsbad’s coastal terrain. With the beautiful Pacific Ocean to the West and foothills rising to the East, this 18-hole championship municipal golf course and event facility offers visitors a magnificent setting in a relaxed California Coastal environment.

For serious INTA golfer who just can’t get enough, we are organising an additional game in a Ryder Cup-style Matchplay event on Thursday, 15 May 2025 at the historic and iconic Torrey Pines South Course, that needs no introductions other than that it is home of the Farmers Insurance Open PGA Golf Tournament and host of the 2008 and 2021 U.S. Open Championships.

May 16, 2025: Scramble @ The Crossings at Carlsbad USD 380 (includes green fees, buggy fees, transport by chartered bus from and to the convention centre, breakfast, lunch, scoring, novelty games and a great networking opportunity)
May 15, 2025, Matchplay at Torrey Pines USD 440 (includes green fees, buggy fees, time sheet start)
Our selected locations are usually within an hour from the INTA Convention Centre (“CC”).
We have typically chartered bus(es) to ferry our participants from the CC (usually at 6AM) to the golf course and back to the CC on Scramble day.
The cost of transport will be included in the price for the Scramble Event so jump on the bus and start networking early!
No transportation is usually provided on Matchplay day
We highly encourage our participants to bring their own equipment, especially if you’re a left-handed lady, because such sets are impossible to procure. However, if you request for a right-handed men’s set, we should be able to procure rentals for under USD 100 per day.
Please bring your own golf shoes!
While we try our best to procure sponsorships for the event that may include some balls, please bring more if you think you’re going to need them.
